With both my sisters living in America, visiting the States is a fairly regular occurrence. At the end of July, I have my next trip coming up. I choose July/August as my oldest sister, Cynthia, will be celebrating her 50th wedding anniversary. What an achievement!
Oh, I almost forgot . . . it’s also an opportunity to escape the cold and wet Cape winters! I love the Western Cape of South Africa. The winter weather — not so much.
But this time it’s more than family for two reasons.
Firstly, I am visiting Texas. I have never been there and as my books are set on a ranch in the Texas Panhandle, it seemed the right thing to do. Right? I am so excited about this as I will be meeting a friend — an email penpal — with whom I have been corresponding for years.
Secondly, I have an opportunity to meet my editor, Candice Royer. Out of all the editors I could have chosen, the one recommended to me by fellow ROSA authors, was Candy. And Candy lives an hour from my family. How serendipitous is that?
I can’t wait for the 24th of July to arrive.
Ah, and thank you to my husband for staying behind and looking after our fur babies. He graciously let’s me jet around with his hard-earned Voyager air miles.
