I have discovered writing is the easy part of getting a book “out there”. Because, before a book is published, there are a few other things to get in place, especially for a debut author.
Such as editing, proofing, covers, and . . . MARKETING!
Yes, marketing deserves all caps and has become the bane of my life.
Okay, so that is a bit of a fib. Marketing, especially online marketing, has always been an area I have shied away from. I have done a course on online marketing, I have developed websites for 15 years, yet my social media presence is . . . well, almost non-existent. I have a Facebook page, yes, but only to see what a few friends and family are up to.
Now, as a self-publishing author who wants to market a book, it ALL happens on social media. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and the list goes on and on and . . .
You get the message. I have to “put myself out there” to “get my book out there”. Worse, I have to transition from a very private person to a public figure.
So, I now have an author Facebook page, an author Instagram account, an author Website, and —
Well, that’s as far as I have gotten to date. So many more platforms to go . . . and release of Murmur of Love is looming. November 21st is just around the corner.
And all I really want to do is get back to Jo and Kurt in Rush of Love, and write, write, write.
