I am the last of three daughters, a laatlammetjie, born many years after my middle sister, and I spent a lot of time on my own. Reading became my escape, and my love for books was born.
I am South African and I grew up in a rural community, Klerksdorp, in the North West Province. Once I completed school, I moved to Johannesburg and started my IT career.
I met my husband-to-be at a Methodist confirmation class, we got married in 1983 and both my daughter and son were born in Johannesburg.
In 1997 we relocated to the Western Cape and settled 20 minutes north of Cape Town, surrounded by vineyards, in a town called Durbanville.
Finding myself in a place—empty nest syndrome—with some time on my hands, I decided to try my hand at writing, picking up a dream set aside many years ago.
